Madeon - Adventure Tour Live
@ The Warfield - San Francisco, California - April 10th, 2015
Madeon is an artist I had followed for a few years leading up to this tour. A young bedroom producer from France heavily inspired by the likes of Daft Punk, he captured the internet in the early 2010s with his viral hit “Pop Culture” in which he made a live mashup of pop hits over the last several decades using a Novation Launchpad to trigger dozens of different samples. I had already seen Madeon once before in San Francisco nearly 3 years before, at a club that he wasn’t old enough to enter! He already began touring clubs across Europe and North America at the age of 17.
Adventure was Madeon’s debut album, well overdue after years of hit singles. Continuing the theme from Porter Robinson’s WORLDS tour, Madeon produced a special live show for the Adventure tour featuring live versions of all of his hits, bolstered by live performances from Madeon using his Launchpad, midi instruments, and live vocals sung by Madeon himself.
Madeon started his tour in San Francisco, where I lived at the time. The tour got off to a potentially rocky start with a sudden venue change from the Regency Theater to The Warfield, but the show itself went off without a hitch. Me and my friends didn’t manage to get in with General Admission, but we did get front row seats on the upper balcony with a fantastic view of the stage. Madeon’s live performance was spectacular, and the production looked and sounded great.
As an added bonus, shortly after the show me and my group of friends managed to find Madeon meeting with fans just outside the venue! We were completely starstruck, but mustered up the courage to ask him for a photo and an autograph. A fantastic end to an amazing show!
