Porter Robinson and Madeon - Shelter Live
@ Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco, California - November 23rd, 2016 & November 25th, 2016
To Porter Robinson and Madeon fans, it was no secret the two had been great online friends for many years. Their friendship predates any of their singles, and somehow they both managed to find a great amount of fame in the EDM scene completely separate of each other. Just under 2 years after they both released their debut albums, they came together and released a single named “Shelter”. Along with the release of the single, they announced a live tour in which they would both play live on stage simultaneously, and once the tour ended they would never play another Shelter Live show again.
I couldn’t miss this show for the world, and due to popular demand an extra show was added in San Francisco. I managed to secure tickets to both shows, and even spent money on some plane tickets to fly out to Utah to visit my cousins and see the Salt Lake leg of the tour with them. I don’t have any photos or videos from the Salt Lake leg, so all the attached media is from the two nights I spent at the San Francisco shows.
The live show served as sort of a “best hits” from both WORLDS by Porter, and Adventure by Madeon, featuring completely new live versions of their music made specially for the Shelter tour. Porter Robinson remixed and made live versions of Madeon’s music, and vice versa. Each moment of the show was carefully rehearsed as they stood on opposite sides of the stage with their own assortments of MIDI instruments, playing over the music they had made specially for this tour. It’s a show I don’t regret seeing for a second, even if I went to 3 shows in under 2 weeks.
